DUDE'S DREAMS.
The Music of Michael Moorcock, by Brian Tawn. Illustrated by Andreas Stüwe.
Hawkfan Publications.
Price £5.50
An excellent book, just over a hundred pages long, covering the musical side of Mike Moorcock, one of this countries best known fantasy and sf authors. Starting way back in the nineteen fifties with "The Greenhorns", through the 'sixties band "The Bellyflops", (who incidentally played Peterborough at the National SF Convention in 1964); after those he was associated with "Hawkwind" in the 'seventies and the American. rock band "Blue Oyster Cult" in the 'eighties and then again with "Hawkwind". The book also details his own band "The Deep Fix".
Over half of the book is taken up with Moorcock's lyrics, starting with Hawkwind's track 'Sonic Attack' and including verses from the assorted solo projects of 'The Entropy Tango' and 'Gloriana'. About which I have to admit I knew practically nothing before opening this tome.
If you have an interest in this man's work, be it the Eternal Champion books from earlier in his career or the more contemporary fiction that he wrote recently, before moving to Texas, this volume will be of interest, adding as it does another dimension to his character.
The book is published by the Hawkfan bunch and as such you will have to write to them to find out details of how to obtain a copy. Send an S.A.E. to them c/o :-
