FUNNY MONEY
by Ray Cooney
It's a farce, there are four doors, people running through them, telling lies and mistaking identities. The formula worked for "The Italian Straw Hat", and chugs along nicely here.
So why did I go to see it? The cast. Trevor Bannister, (Are You Being Served?); Rodney Bewes, (The Likely Lads); Gareth Hunt, (New Avengers); Henry McGee, (Charlie Drake/Benny Hill Shown); and Deborah Watling, (invisible Man/Dr. Who); plus other players who had been in such series as Please Sir!, Terry and June and Only Fools and Horses.
A line up, I think you'll agree, better than some conventions. At the Key Theatre in Peterborough, they have a club that organises aftershow buffets at which you can chat with the casts of the various shows. I'd recommend anyone to find out if their local theatres do the same as this in a great way to meet some stars.
