SPIDER'S WEB

by Agatha Christie
Produced/Directed by Ian Dickens.
Key Theatre 16 June 1998.

Watching this Agatha Christie play I got the suspicion that she was actually an agent provocateur for the Communist Party. You end up wanting all these upper- class double-barrelled named characters to die, not mysteriously murdered, but up against the wall facing a firing squad. Ten Little Niggers could be a blueprint for the revolution. The cast of Frazier Hines (Jamie-Dr Who), Jill Greenacre (Linda-Brittas Empire), and Richard Franklin (Captain Yates- Dr. Who) together with the rest of the ten strong cast, some of whom had been in such Telly shows as The Upper Hand and, That's Life! made the aftershow party as good as some conventions. Frazier Hines told a story about a theatrical landlady who advised against putting full potty's under the bed as the fumes caused the springs to rust.

We didn't guess who did the murder, though we picked up some clues, we laughed at some of the jokes (it is meant to be a comedy), but it is probably one for the Christie fans.
