SHELLEYS' RETURN TO ALBION
By Cardinal Cox

Where fire and water meet
Like a Phoenix arose
A spirit of one who knows
The world is not a Paradise yet.
Turn, towards England, bird
There, the mob languish still
Chaff ground out by Mill
Eager for a fiery word.
Still stony hearts rule while
Mothers beg on rain-washed streets
And pimps guard the law.
Freedom a burden to be carried a mile
Liberty a quest of mighty feats
And truth never a whore.
